Donald Trump and Comical Ali- Separated at Birth
Donald Trump holds a special place in modern political history, similar to that of Comical Ali in the Second Gulf war. In fact, it seems that Trump has been studying the oratory skills and charisma of Comical Ali, in his bizarre global speeches. As a reminder, Mohammed Saeed al-Sahar was the cult Iraqi Information Minister during the 2003 Iraq War. He earned the nicknames Comical Ali and Baghdad Bob for his thrilling claims and flamboyant statements, made while Iraq was being invaded and overrun by American and British forces.
Trumps spectacular one liners and ridiculous claims have made him a laughing stock again to the world. Donald’s press conferences are comedy gold, where there is little political substance but an incredible display of everything that is wrong with western politics today.
Nothing epitomised this more, than his latest stand-up act on the 25th September 2018 to the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
“In less than two years, my administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country,” Trump boasted. The erupted laughter from the members of the UN.
“So true,” said Trump, clearly surprised by the uncontained laughter. “I didn’t expect that reaction, but that’s OK,” he added to more laughter and some applause.
On the UN General Assembly laughing at him, he said the next day, “They weren’t laughing at me they were laughing with me. We were doing it together. We had a good time. They respect what I’ve done. The United States is respected again.”
No, they were laughing at you Trump, like all the world does when they listen to your poppycock and twaddle. However, this is the state of the US President. Just like the unpleasant singer who is on Americas Got Talent, thinking he or she sings like an angel, but actually sounds like somebody is murdering a cat. Trump has similar delusions of grandeur, thinking he is the Messiah for the world. In reality he is a narcissist, pumped up by arrogance and wealth, which is displayed to all the world to see.
The similarities to Comical Ali’s seriously entertaining claims in the past and that of Donald Trump’s foolishness is stark, in terms of style and utter delusion. Here are some examples:
On describing the enemy
Comical Ali, when US forces had taken over Baghdad airport and television footage showed American marines at the gates, he said “They are nowhere near the airport, they are lost in the desert … they cannot read a compass … they are retarded,” he said.
Trump on Twitter- “Why would Kim Jong-un insult me by calling me ‘old,’ when I would NEVER call him ‘short and fat?’ Oh well, I try so hard to be his friend – and maybe someday that will happen!”
Flexing military might
Comical Ali- “Now even the American command is under siege. We are hitting it from the north, east, south and west. We chase them here and they chase us there. But at the end we are the people who are laying siege to them. And it is not them who are besieging us.”
Trump- “North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!”
On US Soldiers
Comical Ali- “We are not afraid of the Americans. Allah has condemned them. They are stupid. They are stupid… and they are condemned.”
Trump- “[John McCain is]… not a war hero. He’s a war hero – he’s a war hero ’cause he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured, OK, I hate to tell you.”
On liars in the American press
Comical Ali- “The American press is all about lies! All they tell is lies, lies and more lies!”
Trump referring to US media outlets- “Fake news is at an all time high. Where is their apology to me for all of the incorrect stories???”
On intelligent presidents
Comical Ali- “Bush is a very stupid man. The American people are not stupid, they are very clever. I can’t understand how such clever people came to elect such a stupid president.”
Trump- “Sorry losers and haters, but my IQ is one of the highest – and you all know it! Please don’t feel so stupid or insecure, it’s not your fault.”
Comical Ali- Saddam Hussein’s soldiers and his great forces gave the Americans a lesson which will not be forgotten by history. Truly.
Trump- “If you look at Saddam Hussein, he killed terrorists. I’m not saying he was an angel, but this guy killed terrorists.”
Not the greatest fans of Britain
Trump- “I recently read a story that in London, which has unbelievably tough gun laws, a once very prestigious hospital, right in the middle, is like a war zone for horrible stabbing wounds,” he said. “Yes, that’s right, they don’t have guns, they have knives and instead there’s blood all over the floors of this hospital. They say it’s as bad as a military war zone hospital.”
Comical Ali- Britain “is not worth an old shoe”
Why not to believe US presidents
Comical Ali- “They do not even have control over themselves! Do not believe them!”
Trump- “I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”
Not fans of mainstream news outlets
Trump- “CNN is fake news, I don’t take questions from CNN,”
Comical Ali- Do not repeat the lies of liars. Do not become like them. Once again, I blame Al-Jazeera before it ascertains what takes place. Please, make sure of what you say and do not play such a role.”
It does seem that instead of watching the speeches of past presidents like John F Kennedy and Barack Obama, Trump has more of twin with the legend that is, Comical Ali.
